WHAT IS THE ANDEAN COSMOLOGY?

"An Andean prophecy, guarded and kept by the Q’ero Nation, says that their rituals and their traditional ways of relating to the givers of life are the medicine, the destiny; that we need to live in harmony with nature and restore the balance between humans and Mother Earth."

In the Andean cosmology of Peru, there are three basic principles from which spirituality, rituals, and ideology arise: reciprocity (ayni), proportionality (tinkuy), and complementarity (yanantin). Another important concept in the Andean world, Pachatussan means "Pillar of the Earth," interpreted as "the principle that supports time, space, and eternity," and it is the "element that sustains the world."

The path of wisdom arises from the interconnection between two beings, between a person and nature. Interrelation is what gives us existence. The relationship between two is only possible through dialogue and consensus, and this dialogue must be based on proportionality for the balance of life. In Andean cosmology, this balanced relationship applies to all forms of life in nature. Humans are just a part of this relationship among living beings, a thread in the cosmic fabric.

In Inca society, many gods were revered, so many types of ofrendas (offerings or prayers) were made. The main gods were: the sun (Inti), Mother Earth (Pachamama), the Apus (spirits of the snowy mountains), the sea (Mama Cocha), water, the moon, and the stars. For both the Incas and today's Andean people, offerings have a sense of reconciliation with spiritual forces to avoid misfortunes and ask for favors from nature.

WHAT IS A SAN PEDRO CACTUS CEREMONY?

The San Pedro cactus, or in the traditional Quechua language, ‘Wachuma’, is a plant medicine from the Andes; with the strongest cultural traditions in Peru and Bolivia.

n the Andes, Wachuma is considered ‘Grandfather Medicine’, because by its nature it is gentle, loving and yet very deep work. It is in a unique class of plant medicines called Phenylethylamine, considered ‘heart based’.

The main alkaloid is Mescaline but there are over 100 other alkaloids in the cactus that help create the experience.

The average experience lasts between 8 -14 hours, we start early in the day. Throughout the ceremony, the nervous system can release and process stress & trauma rapidly. This can present in several different forms: laughing, crying, shaking, uncontrollably, or deep states of stillness. The medicine can be very much centered in the body, rather than the mind.

San Pedro not only turns the volume up on all of your senses - hearing, sight, smell, taste, and touch - it also molds all of your senses together. All of your senses start to become more alive on multiple dimensions.

Like other psychedelics and plant medicines it is contraindicated with certain mental and health conditions, as well as with medication.
