Exploring the healing benefits of Sananga

Sananga is a powerful Amazonian eye drop, that comes from the root bark (not bark or stems) of a shrub called Tabernaemontana undulata, which grows deep inside the Brazilian Amazon. Traditionally Sananga has been used by the indigenous tribes of Brazil for stimulating their senses (vision, awareness, concentration, strength) used for hunting.

Sananga is said to improve vision, and strengthen our connection to spiritual realms and to open our third eye. It also helps to activate and decalcify our pineal gland and helps clear us from negative energy.

Tabernaemontana undulata is a shrub or a tree growing up to 10 metres tall. The plant is sometimes harvested from the wild for local use as a food and medicine. An understory tree in the rainforest, often standing against other trees. It grows in S. America – Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, the Guyanas; C. America – Panama, Costa Rica; Caribbean – Trinidad.

Effects of Sananga:

  • Promotes de capacity of vision extending the connection to the spiritual. Corrects vision imperfections at the energy level, cleaning the energy field and aligning spirit on a molecular and cellular level.

  • Lifts the unhealthy energy leaving the person light and lively, refreshed. Resetting the energy field.

  • Open and energizes third eye chakra (related to vision, clarity). Dilutes negative, stressful thought forms.

  • Opens and connects us to the heart chakra, feeling its subtleness and moving then into the whole body. And relaxes the nervous system.

  • It has been associated with the clearing of long-standing inner anger.

  • it is used to address spiritual diseases or negative energies (panema) that can accumulate in one's energetic body, potentially alleviating symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Sananga has been reported to be effective in treating and preventing various ocular diseases, including glaucoma, cataracts, farsightedness, nearsightedness, astigmatism, and even blindness. Its used for cleaning cornea and retina, for glaucoma, conjunctivitis, redness and eye irritation.

It is also known for its detoxifying properties, helping to cleanse the body.

Sananga eye drops cause an intense burning sensation that typically lasts for a few minutes, the pain is an important part of the healing process as it allows for the release of negative feelings (panema). It is important to breath deeply into the discomfort in order to reap all of sananga’s benefits.

In my offerings, I use Sananga as part of a shamanic journey, as it increases the person's ability and sensitivity to get into a trance, to journey and have clear visions. It is also used prior to going into an ayahuasca ceremony as a way to remove negative energies and open inner vision.
